<p>Robert&#8217;s credentials read like a who&#8217;s who. He&#8217;s one of those high achiever types who put us mere mortals to shame. He&#8217;s likable  too and  he&#8217;s got a pretty good system for getting fit at any age,  male or female-Robert being a great example himself at 60 years of age&#8230;aghh enough to make you mad!!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Just got back from our constitutional with my wife, Barnabas and Heathcliffe (Barn and Heath are our Newfoundland-Landseer puppy dogs, 18 months old and 14 weeks respectively) down by the Ottawa river&#8230;as always we added the odd high intensity hill sprint into the walk.</p>
<p><strong>But, what was interesting this evening was two things that Barn did.</strong></p>
<p>As we approached a hill-now this is not a regular walk we take so not a hill Barn  is that used to, anyway, Barnabas looked at me all excited and began prancing like a racehorse waiting for the starter gun to go off.</p>
<p>Yes, he knows he runs up hills with Dad!</p>
<p>You see habits are easily formed and most times (sometimes its nice to just take our time too) when we get to a hill, we sprint, hop, run backwards or even duck walk up-Well I do but not Barn, he just runs like a dog!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s got me pretty fit the way I exercise. Not your usual &#8220;the way you&#8217;re supposed to&#8221; stuff everyone else teaches&#8230;not that they are all wrong but my way sure is more fun and gets great results.</p>
<p>Second thing that was interesting is that Barnabas kept up with me all the way up the hill&#8230;you see up until now he has lagged behind. Newfs are not known for their speed and agility. These are big dogs that move more like a horse.</p>
<p>Lesson here is that we make progress even when we do stuff in unconventional ways. You know, no boring routines at home or at the gym.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m fit and strong and so is my dog.</p>
<p>He&#8217;s fit and strong and happy because he gets to go out a few times everyday and run and charge around and run up hills with me&#8230;just like he would if he was out with his pack&#8230;and now with the new pup I guess we are a pack.</p>
<p>Guarantee you they&#8217;re fitter then 99% of all the other Newfoundland dogs out there.</p>
<p>And as for my wife, well she loves to walk but sprinting up those hills is not her thing&#8230;but she did jog up today and that&#8217;s good too.</p>
<p><strong>Big lesson to learn is that you should incorporate fitness into your lifestyle. When you do that you will be strong, fit, lean and healthy too.</strong></p>
