My First 30 Foot Rope Climb

Here is my first attempt at a 30 foot rope climb…see if I made it!

I cannot emphasize enough that rope climbing is such a great upper body exercise to add to your fitness routine. Even if you have never climbed rope before you can start out just hanging off the rope and then add negatives until you are strong enough to climb.

Use you legs to help you at first and then graduate to arm and grip power alone.

And that my friend is what you will develop, raw unadulterated power.

Real man strength (or woman strength) that will  benefit you so well.

Here it is-

On the video I make a comment about the rope-it is not a proper climbing rope. It is only about one inch thick and should ideally be one and a half inches thick. Plus when you climb the rope it stretches on each new grip I take which makes it even harder to climb.

If you are strong you can go to the two inch thickness rope as that will really challenge your grip.

Manila is the choice for indoor climbing rope but  you are better with  polypro or polyplus material for outside use.

(There are a few distractions in the background, one of which is my Granddaughter
worrying about her Granddad!)

See you on my decent below…

Keep strong,

Danny
P.S. After I filmed this I went back a few days later and measured the rope-only twenty two feet-ah well, still a good climb don’t you think?
P.P.S. What do you think…is rope climbing for you? Would you like more information  on what you can do on the rope and more ways you can benefit?

    Nice!

I LOVE rope climbing. I have 15 footer in my backyard and you’re right – climbing with gloves makes it a lot easier.

I can probably do about double the distance with gloves as compared to without.

Here’s a good rope workout for ya.

Do 3 sets…climb as high as you can on each set (without risking falling lol), and only 30 seconds rest between each set.

By the time I’m done w/ that my hands are BRIGHT red and it’s hard to get them back to the normal shape!

    Hey Danny,

Great post! I’ve got a big tree in the yard that would be perfect for a rope. Thanks for the idea. Excellent way to improve grip and upper body pulling strength.

    Make it a great day.

    Hi Jeremy,
Good to hear from you…and you’re right-a few sets can really make for a quick power workout.

I like to add a few pull ups when I get to the top too, off the tree branch. Now we’re talking!
